Bastian's - det lille treverkstedet is Norwegian and means: The little wood workshop.
My name is Marc Bastian Lambacher, I am 43 years old and live in the beautiful country Norway. In addition to furniture, jewelry and art objects made from wood, I also design and produce tools for people with special challenges. We all know that life alone can be difficult enough. However, when you add one or more diseases it often becomes more than just a challenge.
And as if that wasn't enough, no, if we are dependent on helping tools/aids it can also lead to a loss of dignity. I make it my business to counteract this with my passion for wood. Well, after having experienced the tools available in stores, I found that most of them look very plastic and cold and are not very inviting. I would like to give back more dignity to people with special challenges when they cannot cope with their everyday life without aids. I want to do this with smart designs and a natural material that everyone can relate to. The possibilities are nearly unlimited. It's just the imagination that sets the limits. arose from the idea of helping a person with fibromyalgia, rheumatism and osteoarthritis. She loves to write, but unfortunately she cannot write much with a normal pen, she has to take long breaks and of course she suffers from pain.

As you can see, I designed and handcrafted a special ballpoint pen. With its weight of approx. 62 grams (in the current stage of development) and its very special shape, it is much easier for these people to go back to their hobby or their tasks. Of course it's a change at the beginning, you have to get used to something so big in your hand when you write. But thanks to the shape, which is adapted to the hand, the FaffoPen has a lot more contact- and support-surface and it is far less stressful to put words on paper.

With rubberized, recessed grip modules for thumb (1) and index finger (2), a rubberized and lightly padded cushion in the area of the thumb saddle joint (Articulatio carpometacarpalis pollicis) (3) and a cleverly placed, also rubberized, recess for the middle finger under the pen (4), this can be used very well in a very natural hand position. It lies very well on the hand and only needs to be guided with very little effort.
Even the tendons on the inside of the wrist are less stressed. The finished product will be a pen that comes with several recessed grip modules (pink in the picture) of different sizes. The wooden middle part, the hand length adjustment (*) is available in 3 widths, so that you can easily create your own individual FaffoPen after purchase. In addition, these recessed grip modules can also be exchanged again and again, if something should change in the user's hand. Since the FaffoPen can be supplied with 4 different recessed grip modules for the index finger and 4 different modules for the thumb as well as 3 settings via the hand length adjustment, there are a total of fantastic 48 setting options. However, these customization options are kept very simple, the focus is on simple execution, and can be carried out by the user in just a few steps. Only a small tool is required to carefully replace the recessed handles - and that is of course included! the FaffoPen is available in different colors, which matches your personal taste. The hand length adjustment can also be ordered in different colors, in line with the first color option or in contrast - depending on your taste. And that in combination with different color options for the rubberized recessed grip modules. The FaffoPen is a blessing for sick people and a must-have for those who just want to stand out from the crowd. For the test person as a patient with the diagnoses mentioned, this naturally makes it easier to use the pen. And because it is made of wood and has a beautiful design, it even makes her want to pursue her hobby again.
The alternatives are very unattractive and even make her feel sick.
And that's not how it should be! I want to go a big step further and make this particular design available to everyone else in the world. Since this FaffoPen shown here is only a prototype that needs to be further developed and no series production can take place at the moment, you come into the picture: I need your backup on Kickstarter to buy the equipment I need to advance the development of the planned improvements, so that they can fit into the hands of others and get the FaffoPen ready for market and worldwide delivery. If I can get your backup on Kickstarter, the FaffoPen will likely be available in May / June 2021. I want to give people the tool they want, not the tool they have to use. It should be nice to use, not a burden!
